We are excited to introduce a new scholarship that will be available for seniors who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Quota International of Minneapolis DHH Scholarship. Quota International was founded in 1919 by Wanda Frey Joiner in Buffalo, New York as a service club for women. It has grown into an international service organization. Quota International is a non-profit organization empowering women, children, the deaf and hard-of-hearing, and people with speech difficulties in local communities around the world.
The Quota International of Minneapolis chapter was founded in 1930 by a group of dedicated women who wanted to make a difference. Over ninety years, the club members have raised millions of dollars for non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities and surrounding communities. Sadly, Quota International and the Minneapolis chapter closed at the end of 2020 and gave some of the remaining funds to Deaf Equity in honor of a $1000 Scholarship to be awarded for the next 10 years to a student who is deaf/hard of hearing to go towards post-secondary training.
Students who qualify for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services, graduating from a Minnesota high school pursuing a degree at a two-year community college/vocational program or four-year college/university are eligible for the scholarship. The application is attached. The deadline for the scholarship is June 1, 2021.
